Larry Donald Small was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 15, 1952, to the late Donald and Delores Small. He attended Detroit Public Schools until his junior year of high school when he moved to Queens, New York, graduating from Jamaica High School. As a young adult, Larry moved back to Michigan and accepted Christ at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit. In 1982, Larry met and married Brenda Matthews and to this union, one child, Andrea Delores was born. He later began a lifelong friendship with Joyce Small that resulted in a cherished father/son relationship with Shunta Small. Larry literally did some of EVERYTHING! He could tailor clothes, fix cars, build homes, do computerized accounting, and the list goes on. He was notorious for his cooking and for being ridiculously neat. He enjoyed his time with friends and always played spades, dominoes, and bid whist. He was a phenomenal pool player and even used the game of pool to teach his nephew Derrick his numbers and colors. Larry loved to listen to music. He had a collection of speakers and always wanted to be the DJ - a love inherited by his daughter. Larry also loved to take pictures – another love that was also inherited by his daughter. Larry leaves to cherish his precious memory: Andrea (Warren) Transou and Shunta (Kia) Small; seven grandchildren: Bryan, Temar, Christopher, MaKayla, Austin, Brielle, Skylar; one sister: Jacqueline (John) Taylor; one aunt: Deborah Tolbert; three nephews: John Taylor, Daryl Rogers and Derrick Small; two nieces: Janeen Taylor and Sondra Small, and a host of other relatives and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Delores Small, his brother Daryl Small, his aunt Myrtis Jean Peoples and uncle Charles Bernard Tolbert. Zoom Instructions 1.
