Kenneth Chiedu Utomi

Kenneth Chiedu Utomi passed away on August 7, 2022 in Detroit Michigan. He was 63 years old. Kenneth Chiedu Utomi was born on March 26, 1959, in Jos, Nigeria to the Late Emmanuel Okwuchukwu Utomi, of Ogbe Onicha, Ogwashi-Ukwu, and Florence Nkemdilim Ndabai, of Azungwu, Ogwashi-Ukwu, Delta State, Nigeria. Kenneth was the fifth of seven children. Kenneth attended St Pius Xth Grammar School, Onicha Ugbo, Delta State, Nigeria. He was an exemplary student and was the Sanitary Prefect during his senior year there. Upon completing his secondary education in Nigeria, Kenneth migrated to the United States of America, (Detroit, Michigan), to continue his University education. He completed his studies at Wayne State University, where he obtained an Accounting Degree. Upon obtaining his Bachelor’s degree, Kenneth accepted employment at the City of Detroit Water and Sewage Department (DWSD) as an accountant. He was a dedicated employee of the DWSD Accounting department for decades. After accomplishing his career objectives, Kenneth married and that marriage was blessed with three children, his first child, Spencer, and twin daughters, Stacy and Stephanie. If you asked Kenneth what his greatest accomplishment in life was, he would say "My children." He truly loved them and would give his all to them. He always wished he could give them more! In addition to his children, Kenneth had genuine love for all his siblings, nephews, nieces and his grand niece. They all knew he loved them and they loved him back! Beyond nephews and nieces and the grand niece, Kenneth loved all his in-laws, and cousins in our extended families in New Jersey, New York, Georgia, Illinois, UK and Nigeria. He kept in touch with everyone and was glad to banter and have long chats with everyone. Kenneth was a God fearing man and loved family and godly living. He had a zest for life and wore a pleasant disposition that was sealed with a smile always. He was a kind spirit and was ready to help anyone that crossed his path with a need. He was fun loving and made friends easily. He lived a jovial and simple life. He loved Christian hymnals, R&B music, Sports (basketball and football) and TV trivia. He was a frequent winner of prizes and called into the radio stations to give accurate answers to many perplexing questions. Kenneth’s departure has left a "huge" hole in our hearts, that only God Can Fill With His Healing Balm. Let’s be comforted a little bit, that Kenneth’s zest for life carries on in his three lovely Children, Spencer Utomi, Stacy Utomi, and Stephanie Utomi.
