Jefferi V. Holland

Jefferi V. Holland was born to the union of the late Raymond and Zenobia Holland on January 26, 1959, in Detroit, MI – the second child of the family. He was affectionately known as “Jeff”. Faith played a significant role in Jeff’s life. His Christian experience began at St. Clements Episcopal Church in Inkster, MI. Jeff and his family were members of the church for many years. In his early teens, Jeff served as an acolyte, helping with essential religious services. Later, in his adult life, he worked tirelessly for the Men’s Guild, acted as Senior Warden and was a member of the board for the St. Clements Manor Senior Center. Jeff graduated from Aquinas High School - Class of 1977. It turned out to be a pivotal milestone. He was awarded a basketball scholarship to attend the University of Detroit Mercy - a nod to his talent on the court. But it was his academic performance that eventually led to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics in 1982. In the late 1990’s, it was only fitting that Jeff would meet the love of his life, Kimberly Truman, at church. Their passion for community service also fueled their passion and love for each other and on July 8, 2000, the two got married. They settled in Plymouth, MI, and went on to host countless get-togethers at their home over the years for family and friends. Jeff continued his Christian experience with St. John’s Episcopal Church in Plymouth, under the leadership of Pastor Chris. Despite dealing with numerous health challenges, Jeff was an accomplished engineer, principal technology consultant, account manager and entrepreneur. (He and Kim once operated a wine store together!) His work at the University of Michigan was cutting edge. It also gave Jeff another opportunity to mentor youngsters through the university’s Detroit Area Pre-College Engineering Program (DAPCEP). On Sunday, February 2, 2025, our beloved Jeff changed his earthly garments to his heavenly robe. He was 66 years old. Jefferi leaves to cherish his love and memories: beloved wife, Kim Holland; mother-in-law, Flo Truman; one brother, Raymond (Ida) Holland; one sister, Loren Gaffin; one brother-in-law, Scott (Desiree) Truman; two nieces, Dr. LaVonne Gaffin and Tanisha (Jeremy) Payne; four nephews, Raymond Holland Jr., Richard Gaffin, Avery Truman and Alexander (Juli) Truman; grandniece, Journey Payne; goddaughter, Raven Thompson, numerous cousins and friends and a large host of his Kappa Alpha Psi brothers (see legacy tribute). “We bless the Lord for his life.” Amen! JEFFERI V. HOLLAND KAPPA ALPHA PSI FRATERNITY, INC. JUNE 9, 1989, 9:09 p.m. Brother Jefferi Holland was raised in nobility from birth and his character and mind were always clear and focused. Brother Holland was initiated into the Noble Clan of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., on June 9, 1989, at 9:09 p.m., and became number 6 on the line of the “Significant Six.” Brother Holland embodied the fundamental purpose of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., which is ACHIEVEMENT in every field of Human Endeavor. Brother Holland’s servant leadership style led him to being nominated, accepted, and elected as the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti-Inkster Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Keeper of Exchequer. Not only was this special considering Brother Holland’s tenure in the Fraternity, but he was elected and served in this capacity for 23 straight years. This is a feat that no other person in our Chapter’s history has achieved. Brother Holland continued to excel in excellence serving as the Chapter’s Vice Polemarch despite battling courageously, a very rare and serious illness. Brother Holland served in this capacity for five years overseeing the Chapter’s committees and activities. In this role, Brother Holland coordinated the Chapter’s financial contributions to St. Jude’s Hospital which provides life-saving medical services for youth without charging families. Brother Holland served on various Chapter committees and his significant contributions led directly to the shaping of the future direction of the Chapter. He forged many impactful community relationships and served as the Chapter’s Ambassador to Starfish Family Services, a nonprofit organization, providing food security, clothes, toys, and other essentials for low-income families. One of Brother Holland’s most noteworthy gifts was his willingness to serve for years on the Thanksgiving Basket Give-Away Committee. Brother Holland bestowed participation on this committee assisting in identifying individuals that qualified for the donation. Brother Holland’s full body of work led to his Brother of the Year Award twice and being inducted into the Chapter’s prestigious Lifetime Achievement Association. Brother Holland’s toils were endless, his service abundant and his love for others selfless. The Brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., specifically the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti- Inkster Alumni Chapter, shall miss the smile and easy-going nature of Brother Holland and the servant leadership which is engraved in the community in which we serve.
