Janice Sue Darrough

Janice Sue Darrough, age 72, peacefully departed this life on July 4, 2026. She was born on December 3, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Era Jean Brazier and John Darrough. Janice's childhood was rooted in the love and guidance of her grandparents, the late Felicia and Edward Brazier, who helped raise her and her siblings in Kansas City, Kansas. She later moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she developed a deep appreciation for culture and the diversity of the city. During this time, she welcomed her first child, Sekou Malone. Years later, Janice reunited with her childhood sweetheart and first husband, the late Robert Smith. Together they were blessed with two daughters, Marietha and Tiffany. Devoted to providing the best life possible for her children, Janice returned to Michigan, where she made her home and continued raising her growing family. She was later blessed with two more children, Dominek and Dymond, completing the family that brought her immeasurable joy. Janice built a successful career with AT&T, where she worked faithfully for many years before retiring in the early 2000s. Retirement allowed her to enjoy the simple pleasures that brought her happiness, especially spending long summer days fishing. She often affectionately referred to herself as a "country bumpkin," reflecting her love for nature, peaceful waters, and the outdoors. Janice had a vibrant personality and a joyful spirit. She loved to laugh, listen to jazz, and celebrate life. Her warmth, energy, and sense of fun made every gathering more memorable. Through her love of life, she met and married Jimmy White, the love of her later years, who preceded her in death. Above all, Janice's greatest pride and deepest love were her children and grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched with her kindness, humor, strength, and unconditional love. She leaves to cherish her precious memory her beloved children: Sekou (Liz), Marietha (ElijaBlu), Tiffany (Frank), Dominek, and Dymond; her cherished grandchildren: Warren, Aaron, Lauryn, Noah, Mya, Reagan, Peyton, Aysah, Aiden, Amari and Devynn; her loving siblings: Roxanne, Robert (Gladys), Felicia, and Norman; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory. In addition to her parents, Era Jean Brazier and John Darrough, Janice was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Felicia and Edward Brazier; her first husband, Robert Smith; and her husband, Jimmy White. Funeral services celebrating the life of Janice Sue Darrough will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Her family welcomes all who knew and loved her to join them in honoring a life filled with love, laughter, resilience, and unwavering devotion to family. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Janice's love will continue to guide us, her laughter will echo in our memories, and her spirit will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
