James Beotis Green Jr. lived with a vibrant spirit, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering resilience. His journey through life was one of redemption, strength, and an enduring passion for helping others. Born on May 2, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan, James was the eldest of two children to James Sr. and Irene Green. Despite the challenges of growing up in a single-parent home, James stood as a protective big brother to his sister, Cheryl. As life unfolded, James grew not only as a sibling but as a compassionate soul, determined to make a difference. In 1993, James made the life-changing decision to enter Narcotics Anonymous, embracing the 12-step program that would guide him to 20 years of sobriety. His transformation from struggling with addiction to becoming an advocate for others in recovery was nothing short of inspirational. James found purpose in the NA Fellowship and made a positive impact through his involvement in the “Jazzy Steppers” at the John R Community Center. His heart of gold shone through his actions, and he was a beacon of hope for many. James worked diligently throughout his life, from odd jobs to a fulfilling career at Ford Motor Co., where his dedication and strong work ethic were admired. Though he never married or had children, James found a lifelong partner in Charmaine Evans, whose love and support were unwavering. Throughout his life, James was known for his humor, his infectious laugh, and his ability to brighten any room he entered. His love for life, people, and laughter was contagious, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. James leaves behind his sister Cheryl Green, brother Terence Thomas, stepfather Sumpter Thomas, stepbrothers Vincent and Michael Thomas, Cousin Gina Roberson, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. James’s life was a testament to resilience, joy, and the power of redemption. His story will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his spirit will forever be felt in the lives he touched. Rest in peace, James.
