Gwendolyn Reeves

Mrs. Gwendolyn Reeves made her transition on June 4, 2025. Please take a moment to leave comforting words of condolences for her family. Gwendolyn Reeves, affectionately known as "Gwen” was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 26, 1942. She was the eldest of six children, and was preceded in death by two siblings, Ralph Proctor, Jr. and Carolyn Gardner. Gwen accepted Christ at an early age and carried her faith throughout her life. She was educated in the Detroit Public Schools system and graduated from Eastern High School in 1959. Gwen had a strong passion for business, which led her to pursue higher education at Bryant and Stratton College in Buffalo, New York. There, she earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. After completing her studies, she returned to Michigan and successfully managed her family’s businesses - Craft Car Wash in Detroit, MI and Golden Fry Restaurant in Flint, MI. Gwen met the love of her life, Charles Reeves, Jr., at the age of 15 while still in high school. They united in marriage on April 14, 1962, and shared 63 years of a devoted and fulfilling partnership. This union created their beloved daughter, Tracey Louise. Gwen embraced life with joy and purpose. She was known for her hard work, warm spirit, and generous heart. A passionate golfer, she participated in several women’s golf leagues and also enjoyed watching sports, traveling, shopping, and cooking. Above all, Gwen treasured her family deeply. Those who knew her knew how much she adored her husband Chuck, her daughter Tracey, and her grandsons Tre’ and Stephen. Her family was her heart, and she took great pride in nurturing, loving, and spoiling them. On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, Gwendolyn Reeves peacefully departed this life at Sinai Grace Hospital. She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, her loving daughter, and her cherished two grandsons. She is also survived by one sister, two brothers, one brother in-law, two sister in-laws; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Her legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
