Elizabeth Kaye Welch

Elizabeth Kaye Welch was born on January 27, 1948, in Houston, Texas to the late Fred and Elizabeth Welch. Elizabeth (Liz) graduated from Saginaw Buena Vista High School. After graduating from high school, she attended Saginaw General Hospital School of Nursing where she received her RN Degree. Shortly after receiving her RN Degree, she began her lifelong career in the medical profession working in various hospitals and medical facilities in the states of Michigan, California, and Texas. In her various positions she was highly respected and a dedicated and beloved mentor to up and coming nurses. She was always supportive when family members consulted her for medical advice and often would act as a medical advocate for family members and others who were ill and in need. Elizabeth continued her career as a nurse until her retirement. Liza was an excellent cook and enjoyed catering delicious meals for family and friends. In addition to her work as a nurse, for many years she maintained a part-time catering business. She loved music and enjoyed attending concerts with family and friends, as well as fishing. She was also an avid reader and a writer of poetry and short stories. Elizabeth was blessed to find and marry the love of her life Linda Ware. Prior to Liz's death they enjoyed 36 loving and fun years together. Residing in Southfield, Michigan, Liza and Linda enjoyed gardening together and were recipients of a number of gardening awards. She passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 in Southfield, Michigan. Elizabeth is survived by her loving wife, Linda Ware; siblings, Fred Welch, Jr. (Diane), Daisy O'Neil, Betty Johnson, Carolyn McKanders (Kenneth), and Grace Lewis; sister-in-law, Lynda Welch who was married to predeceased brother, James; brother-in-law, Matthew Mercer; and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
