Lydia Jackson

May 27, 1934 - July 28, 2020

Mrs. Lydia Jackson was born on May 27, 1934 to Horace and Inda Mathews of Detroit, Michigan. She was the oldest of six siblings. On the morning of July 28, 2020 at 9:40 a.m. our Lord and Savior called Mrs. Lydia Jackson home to rest. Her Life Journey Lydia attended Detroit Public Schools. She was baptized and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit, MI. Lydia grew up in the historic landmark Detroit Brewster projects where she met Charles E. Walker and from this relationship she gave birth to two children, Renee D. Bey and Cerhue “Andre” Walker. Later in life, Lydia was united in holy matrimony to Claude P. Jackson on March 15, 1968 (whom preceded her in death), from this union was born Tracy M. Spight (whom preceded her in death). In her early years she was employed at General Motors and Burroughs Corporation. She was a devoted wife, homemaker and a loving grandmother who enjoyed cooking, baking, fashion, shopping and fine-dining. Lydia also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a devoted giver of tithe and offerings. She found comfort and enjoyment in listening to spiritual radio and tv shows; which includes Pastor Bogle, Ron Carpenter, Joyce Meyer and Joel Olsten. Her most favorite radio show was Bob and Rob Allison’s “Ask Your Neighbor”. She was admired by many for her sweet demeanor, her classy sense of fashion, her delicious cakes, pies and her tasty home- made dressing, which our family truly enjoyed. Lydia loved natural home remedies from alkaline water, vitamins, neem oil to noni fruit juice. Please be mindful of Governor Whitmer's orders that everyone must wear a mask and social distance. Additionally the rules of a Strolling Visitation is that 10 people are allowed in the chapel at a time. Some visitors must go so that others may come. On the day of the funeral, only those selected by the family are allowed to be present. The funeral will be live streamed on our website under the Photos & Videos tab once you click Mrs. Jackson's picture. The live streaming icon won't be available until about 1:00 pm on August 5, 2020. The video will be available on our website for 90 days. Don't hesitate to call with any questions.
