Frank "Francis" Nelson

December 15, 1949 - August 10, 2020

Francis Jerome Nelson was born on December 15th, 1949 in Detroit MI to Elizabeth Jean Nelson and her proud family. He had 3 younger siblings who survive him (Albert Geemes,) (Mark Geemes) and(Deborah Galloway) Francis (Frank) grew up on Detroit’s Westside. He graduated from Central High School, then furthered his education at Ferris State University, before entering the mechanical engineering trade field. After graduating the program, he began his career working for General Motors and ultimately retired from in 2001. Francis enjoyed many things in life, but few made him happier than listening to music. He loved playing his favorite songs on long car rides and in his home, that always gave him peace. He also had a great love for traveling around the country for work, vacationing with his family, and later in life, with his wife, they enjoyed many cruises and using their vacation time share to “get away” from time to time. Frank, known by his friends as “Speak”, wife of 47 years Effie Ann Nelson preceded him in death and he leaves behind two children, Anitrah and LJ and his daughter and son in law, Jen Nelson and Tim Hurley. Frank had one Grandson, Calin Baker-Nelson who he LOVED driving to and picking up from school as well as watching him play sports and one Granddaughter who would brighten up his whole day just singing and playing in his presence, as she would call him her “Papa Frank”. Francis will leave a legacy behind of strength, redemption, and a rebirth through his relationship with the lord in his later years. He will always be remembered by his sense of humor and wit and ability to talk to anyone about anything. His family/friends will forever miss his light and love.
