Bettie Mungo

June 1, 1938 - January 12, 2022

Mrs. Bettie Mungo (nee Flood) of Novi, Michigan, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, surrounded by family, at the Ascension Providence Hospital in Novi, MI. She was born on June 1, 1938, in Clarendon County, SC to Louis Flood and Bernice Ragins, who later married Lonnie Campbell. Bettie graduated from the South Carolina State High School in Manning in June 1958. Later that month, Bettie, also known as “Betty” met and married David Mungo while living in Manning, SC. The couple moved to Norwalk, CT in 1959, where she lived for the greater part of her life. Of their union, three children were born. Bettie relocated to Novi, MI in 2018 where she resided with her son, Louis Mungo and his wife Glynis, along with their sons Aaron and Ryan and her mother Gloria Tinsley. While living in Norwalk, Bettie became a longtime member of the Norwalk Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed quilting and guiding the younger quilters as a very active member of Norwalk’s Peace by Piece Quilt Project. She also loved to collect ceramic elephants of which there were many. Bettie is survived by sons David (Jessie) - Stone Mountain, GA, and Louis (Glynis) – Novi, MI, stepbrother Johnny Davis (Linda), niece Angela Kelly (Charles), along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bettie is predeceased by her mother, Bernice Virginia Campbell, father Lonnie Flood, sister Carolyn B. Owens, daughter Berdella White (Ralph-also deceased) and a daughter-in-law Leslie Mungo. Bettie was truly loved. Along with family, she leaves to cherish her memories, a host of community friends and her church family. Zoom Instructions 1. Go to Kempfuneralhome.com. 2.
