Toyake Dishelle Marshall-Thirkield

HER-story Toyake Dishelle Marshall-Thirkield was born January 5, 1983, weighing 7lbs, 13 oz, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak Michigan. She was a beautiful chocolate baby that lit up her mother’s world at first sight. Toyake came into this world with a bang. From the beginning of her life she has always been determined to do things her way! She accepted the Lord as her personal savior and was baptized at East Lake Baptist Church The birth of her first child, Jason quickly taught the rigors and responsibility of motherhood, but also the pride and joy a child brings. Accepting and mastering those responsibilities became the source of her academic success. Toyake received her Comprehensive Medical Assistant certification from Lawton School in 2007. She attended the University of Phoenix where she received her Associate of Arts Degree in 2014. Toyake also earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of Phoenix in 2015 and was one class away from obtaining her Master Degree the same year. Toyake worked as a claims adjuster for Allstate for almost 13 years and received numerous accolades for her excellent customer service. Her drive and determination was equal to that of her mother’s, which made her mother extremely proud. She had a strong bond with her mother, talking via FaceTime daily sharing laughs, memories and catching up with her children. Toyake met the love of her life DeQuan Thirkield in November of 2008 and married on May 5th 2016. From their union they had two beautiful children Dalayah and Kaiden. They would often travel together, take rides downtown and loved going on family trips. Toyake was an extremely hard worker, dedicated wife and mother who adored her husband and children. She always put her family first. Toyake was a member of New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, for several years and enjoyed worshiping with the congregation. She also enjoyed going out with friends and celebrating birthdays. She even started writing a novel and was in the process of finalizing edits. Preceding her in death was her grandmother Mary Bostic, grandfather Augusta Bostic, cousin Derek Roberts, aunt Rita Roberts, uncle Jimmy Roberts, great-grandmother Mary Roberts. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband DeQuan Thirkield, children; Jason Smith, Dalayah Thirkield, Kaiden Thirkield and step-children Dorian Thirkield & Akiye Thirkield. her mother Erica Shepherd, father Otis Bostic, mother in Law Ursula Thirkield, grandmother Martha Marshall, and a host of cousins, nieces, aunts, uncles, and friends.
