Thomas Gray Sr.

Thomas Hogan Gray Sr was born on May 13, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan to William Benny Hogan and Christine Annie Hogan Gray. Thomas was called home on January 30, 2026 in Southfield, Michigan. When his mother re-married, Robert Gray, Thomas spent a brief time of his childhood living in Detroit, Michigan, Wayne, Michigan, and his teenage years in Cherry Valley, near Idlewild, Michigan. He graduated from Baldwin High School in 1960 in Baldwin, Michigan. Soon after, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his time in the United States Air Force from 1960 until 1966. In 1962, while stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi, he met Elizabeth Cecelia Money at the USO club. Two years later, on August 14, 1964, he married Elizabeth Cecelia (Money) in Rosieres en Haye, France. Later on, December 2, 1964, they married at the Toul Rosieres Air Force Base in France. The marriage ceremony was officiated by Catholic Major USAF Chaplain, Ralph A. Aschoff. While stationed in France, his first born, Thomas Gray Jr. was born on May 17, 1966. When he returned to the United States in 1967, not long after, he was hired at Ford Motor Company during that same year. He worked on the assembly line. About six months later, he enrolled in the Apprenticeship Program for Tool and Die Making at Henry Ford Community College. He completed the Tool and Die Making Program from Henry Ford Community College in 1970. In the mid-1970s, he became a Cost Estimator for Ford Motor Company until his retirement in 1999. During his time at Ford Motor Company, he received an associate degree from Henry Ford Community College in 1981. He was also a long-time church member of Unity Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan. Throughout his life, he was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed doing electrical work, he was an avid car enthusiast, repaired cars, he loved to solve word puzzles, putting together jigsaw puzzles, powerwalking in the neighborhood for exercise, bicycling, swimming, socializing with his friends, and spending time with family. He always loved to give advice and help to his friends and loved ones when needed. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Elizabeth Gray. His sons, Thomas Gray Jr. (Ronda), Timothy Gray (Tabitha), and daughter, Trina Gray. Five grandchildren, Tiara, Briana, Valarie, Timothy Jr., and Mia. Great-grandchildren, Deion Jr., Nasir, and Tionne. His sister, Mary Hunter, brother, Harry Gray, and Bobby Gray (deceased). His sister in-laws, Mary Cook, Jessie Gray, and Ernestine Gray. Brother in laws, Richard Money, Zachery Money, Patrick Hunter, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
