Rita Jo Parrish

Rita Jo Parrish was born in Athens, Georgia on December 13, 1949 to the late Lester T & Ruby L. Parrish. She was the second oldest of nine children. She acknowledged Christ at an early age at Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Metter. GA. Rita graduated from Metter High School in 1967. She later moved to Detroit, Michigan where she attended Lewis College of Business and obtained an Associate Degree in Business Administration. During her early years, she achieved and exceeded all the goals set by her employers at numerous companies; including Lusters Products, Johnsons Products, Superior Beauty & Barber Supply as well as CAPE Health. In 1980, she gave birth to her son, Anthony Sean Parrish, known affectionately as “SugaBear” Rita was baptized on August 17, 1991 at Conant Gardens Seventh -day Adventist Church. She served as the Women’s Ministry Leader, Sabbath School Teacher, sang in the choir “Choraleers” and worked as an Evangelist with Pastor Ralph Shelton. She was currently an Elder at the Sharon Inkster Seventh- day Adventist Church, she was ordained on March 18, 2017. In 1989, Rita married Edward Taylor, and gained two sons- Edward and Jesse Taylor. She lived a life of service. Her passion was serving the Lord, her church and her radio ministry “Meet The Master”. She enjoyed family gatherings, dancing and fellowship. She loved to wear a flower on the side of her suits. Rita Jo Parrish departed this life on Sunday November 12th early in the morning surrounded by her loving family. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons; Anthony Sean Parrish (Nicole), Edward Taylor (Sharia), Jesse Taylor, one grandson Anthony Sean Parrish Jr. known affectionately as “Bubbalicious”, and one great granddaughter Analaya Freelon. Siblings, Sondral Rouse ( Spurgeon Jr), Lester Parrish, Ronald Parrish, Danny Parrish (Ilene), Gloria Parrish, Wanda Parrish, Reginald Parrish (Cristy) ,Wynne Parrish and Felicia Stewart. Her nephews, Victor Eugene Parrish, Kevin Parrish, Jauron Parrish, Sprugeon Rouse III (Tamesha) and Jarrett Parrish. Her nieces, Laurinda Parrish and Ciara Parrish.
