Nathan Louis Gordon D.O

Nathan Louis Gordon, age 92, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on December 23, 2024. Nathan, a dedicated United States Army Veteran, Board Certified Medical Physician, and a proud husband and father passed away in his home state of Michigan in the city of Detroit. Nathan was born in Akron, OH in 1932 to parents, Nathan L. Gordon and Ada M. (Easton) Gordon. Nathan grew up with his younger sister Dorothy (Adams) Swoope in Akron, OH. Nathan was preceded in death by his parents Nathan and Ada Gordon as well as his younger sister Dorothy Swoope. Nathan attended Kent State University, OH. While completing his degree at Kent State University, Nathan was drafted into the United States Army, trained and stationed at Fort Hood, TX and later served in the Korean Conflict while attaining the rank of Private (PVT). Upon Nathan's return from the war he subsequently completed his bachelor's degree at Kent State University and later went onto attend The Chicago College Osteopathy in pursuit of a degree in medicine. Following the completion of his medical degree, Nathan took a residence in general surgery and later changed his study to anesthesiology. Nathan became a board-certified physician in 1964, and devoting himself to aiding others. During Nathan's career as an anesthesiologist, he operated at a number of hospitals in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. Nathan's tireless pursuit of knowledge and education not only in medicine resulted in saving countless lives in both the operating room and in the local community. Nathan never sought or expected thanks for his efforts as a philanthropist. Knowing he had helped another person was thanks enough. That selflessness extended to his personal life, as well. Nathan's kind, caring, and generous, traits reflected both at home and in the field working as a physician. In February 2023, at the Church of the Living God Christian Center; Nathan was baptized and later received the gift of the Holy Spirit. Nathan was an avid artist of multiple mediums to include drawing, paint, plastic/clay/glass modeling, and photography. Nathan was also an accomplished classical pianist and played several other instruments to include alto saxophone and clarinet. One of Nathan's favorite passion was astronomy. Nathan was married to Mary (Brown) Gordon for forty years and shared five children along with a number of grandchildren. Nathan was a devoted and loving father to Nathan L. Gordon IV, Chedrin Chambers, Jason Jackson, Donald Davenport, and Justin Jackson who will dearly miss him and the life lessons he imparted to them. Nathan always encouraged his children to be happy and pursue their dreams. Nathan leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Mary, children Nathan (Doris) Gordon, Chedrin (Jennifer dcd.) Chambers, Jason (Branti) Jackson, Donald (Raegan) Davenport and Justin (Sadie) Jackson; brother in law, Timothy (C-Vaughn) Brown; sister-in-laws, Nellie (William dcd) Hendricks, Eileen (Kenneth dcd.) Burnley. Best friend and spiritual brother, Deacon John Johnson. Sixteen grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
