Constance T. Campbell

Constance Lorraine Thornton Campbell was born January 8, 1932 in Detroit MI. She was the fifth daughter of 7 children, Helen, Ruby, Claudia Marie, Mary Ann, Ronald Louis, and Eric Bernard, lovingly blended / born to the union of the Late Louis Thornton and Annie Mae Holloway Thornton. Connie grew up on Detroit’s “West Side” where she attended the Detroit Public School System’s Wingert and Sampson Elementary then McMichael intermediate. She graduated from Northwestern High School with honors. Connie, under the guidance of her Mama, Annie Mae, along with her siblings grew up faithfully attending St. Stephen A.M.E. Church where she was a Sunday Schooler, Vacation Bible Schooler, Girl Scout, and she sang in the youth Choirs. She was trained and accepted a Christ Centered lifestyle. Connie experienced fruitful employment opportunities working in several positions over her lifespan, of note, she retired as a Claims Representative for the Social Security Administration after 25 years of loyal service. Connie was a Lifelong Learner, she sought a productive, satisfying, fulfilling, pleasurable and comfortable family life. Therefore, rich experiences for her children, grandchildren as well as her entire family was continually created. Connie Loved Amazing Adventures and understood that She was truly Blessed. Art & Connie were Soulmates…They connected…They talked and talked and talked and talked, then they chose to travel to Charleston, SC, obtain a marriage license and was then married by her sister, Mary Ann, a Unity Minister, on March 25,1988. With this union Art readily accepted her children, Lynda Lorrayne, Valerie Elizabeth, Marshall Neal aka Hakeem and William Anthony (Tony) as his own. Art and Connie’s Shared Amazing Adventures Blossomed…and All in proximity of them understood they were truly Blessed! Sailing, Woodworking, Master Gardening, travelling the world, cooking delicious meals, or eating delicious food from Mom n’ Pop markets on up to the finest establishments, Sewing, Knitting, Crocheting, taking classes of all types, listening to all genres of music, watching PBS and reading the National Geographic was the norm that filled their life. They both enjoyed a rich social life, Family, Friends and Community. With Art’s encouragement and support, Connie completed some longtime goals. She successfully completed Labor School then went on to obtain a certificate of completion in the field of Gerontology from Mary grove College in April 1995 then a Bachelor of Arts from Marygrove College in 1997.
