Mr Clarence Danzy

Clarence William Danzy “CW/Country Preacher” Clarence W Danzy (CW) was born August 30,1936 in Deepstep Georgia to the late JC and Irene Danzy. CW was the second oldest of nine children: TJ, James, Ilene, Barbara Jean, and Raymond all who proceeded him in death; he leaves behind to cherish his memory Milton (Jaqueline), Rufus “Pete” (Kim), and Carlton (Rose). CW was educated in the Knoxville Tennessee and Sandersville Georgia school system. He joined Mt Sinai Baptist church in Deepstep Georgia at an early age. He joined the United States Army at the age of 17. He would advance his career in the US Army becoming a Paratrooper, jumping from planes. He loved being a dare devil living life on the edge, which would lead him to his love of drag racing. He loved speed and fast cars. CW Danzy developed a lust for cars. He loved building his own race cars and driving them in drag racing. He even had his race car showcased at Cobo Hall. His love of cars and the ability to build them would result in him one day becoming the owner and operator of his own mechanic shop in Detroit Michigan where he worked until his retirement. After retiring he would spend many of his days hanging around at the shop under its new ownership congregating with his many friends that he developed over the years. He always enjoyed holding long conversations talking about cars, racing, politics, and current events. His gift of conversation and his love of growing up in the south would be the reason for another of his nick names “Country Preacher”. He spent the majority of his pass time traveling, going to the movies, and taking walks in the park with his forever partner, Betty Ann. To their partnership they had two daughters Angela Bell (Christopher) and Tiffany Dye (Lavico Sr.) Betty and CW would spend their golden years continually doing these things until COVID left him without his legs. Betty Ann would spend her days visiting him in the nursing home, Pomeroy Living Sterling Skilled, where he spent his last years. She would bring his favorite foods, and they would watch movies on her portable DVD player. His brother Milton would also visit his brother often. He too brought CW his favorite dishes. CW was a father of five other children from previous relationships: Lennis, Bridgette Solomon (Clinton), Eric, Reginald (Stephanie) and Sharon (Willie). He also leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life: 15 grandchildren – Lavico Dye Jr, Autumn Bell, Summier Dye, Santino Dye, Tiffani (Noodles) Dye, Illy Dye, Tanesha Danzy, Keisha Williams, Jennifer Davis, Keisha Bland, Darius King, Tevarez King, Porsha Renfroe, Sharod King, and Whitney King; 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and many many friends. The Detroit family would like to send a special thank you to Porsha Renfroe and Keisha Bland and others that came from near and far to visit him while he lived in the nursing home. Your visits meant a lot to him. He spoke of your visits often.
