Belva Jean Pyles

Our dear Belva Jean went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2024. We praise a mighty God for her life and for giving her to us to share and to love. Belva Jean Pyles was born June 26, 1942 to the union of the late Johnnie and Viola Pyles in Freeman, West Virginia. Belva, the oldest of eight children, was born with special needs but was quite able to hold her own in our large family and in life. She attended Bluestone School in Bramwell, West Virginia, alongside her sister Barbara. The family moved to Huntington, West Virginia in 1960 where she faithfully attended Young Chapel AME Church. After the passing of our mother in 1997, Belva Jean went to live with our sister Barbara Branche in Youngstown, Ohio and later moved to Detroit, Michigan until God called her home. She faithfully attended the Wyoming Avenue Church of Christ with Barbara. She also worked at Service to Enhance Potential for 25 years until her illness rendered her unable to continue. Belva Jean was preceded in death by her sister Loraine, father Johnnie and mother Viola “Tootsie” Pyles and niece Donna. She leaves to mourn her loss, siblings Barbara Branche of Detroit, MI., Sylvia Adkins of Alexandria, LA., Doris Greenlee, of Winston-Salem, NC, Johnnie Pyles (Annisa) of Carrolton, TX, Patricia Bradley (Ed) of Greer, SC., and Jerry Pyles (Kahliquah), of Woodbridge, VA, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends around the world. To our dear sister, Barbara, servant of the Lord God Almighty, we thank you for the 27 years of love, care, devotion and sacrifice you poured into Jean as her primary guardian and caretaker! There are no words, Barbara Ann Branche! May God continue to bless you and keep you! Special recognition, love and devotion to Angela Goss, Grandma Tootsie Pyles’ oldest grandchild, who stepped up and cared lovingly for her Auntie Jean, day and night, may God continue to bless you! The family is eternally grateful for your God-given assignment of love. To Cynthia Clayborn, a prayer for help went up one night and the next day, God sent you! Thank you for your devotion and friendship to our family at a time when we were in desperate need. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1). May He continue to bless you in all that you do. We love and appreciate you! To the many family, friends who loved Jean and played a part in her care including, Nurse Torrie and Dr. Quadir Jaleel, we thank you! May God continue to bless and keep you in his care.
