Arthur Lee Brown

“A time to be born” (Ecclesiastes 3:3) Arthur Lee Brown, was born November 5, 1949 in Dallas County Selma, Alabama to the late Lorenzo Brown and Johnnie Mae Hall Brown. He was the eighth of nine siblings. “ A time to be trained” (Proverbs 22:6) Arthur was raised in a close-knit family along with his eight brothers and sisters. They instilled in him the values of compassion, integrity, and perseverance. At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ at Pearidge Chapel A.M.E Church in Selma, Alabama. He graduated from Brantley High School in 1967. In 1967 Arthur made the decision to move from Alabama to Michigan in search of a job. His first job was working at the Roman Cleanser Company. Even though he liked his job, he wanted something better. He applied for jobs at Ford, General Motors & Chrysler. He accepted his first offer which was Ford Motor Company in 1969. General Motors called him later that day, but he had already committed to Ford Motor Company. That started his 52 Year career with Ford Motor company where he was a Crane Operator, eventually training others to operate the crane. “a time to be loved” (2 Samuel 1:23) Throughout his life, Arthur was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Mary whom he married in 1971. He was a nurturing father, grandfather and a loyal friend to many. His warmth and generosity knew no bounds, and his gentle spirit touched the lives of everyone he encountered. Arthur & Mary purchased their first home in 1973 in Detroit, Michigan on Patton Street where he lived for five years. In 1978 he moved to Southfield where he lived until his death. The most important thing to Arthur was making sure he provided everything his family needed. Because of that need to be a strong provider, he worked a lot. Most would consider him a workaholic. He was proud to say he worked at Ford Motor Company. Over the years Arthur made many friends at Ford who became life long friends. Arthur was so excited when he had his first grand child. They fondly called him “Papa”. He made sure that his grandchildren had everything they needed. He enjoyed attending there school and sports activities. He had so much pride in them and was so proud. “a time to die...a time of peace” (Psalm 89:48) Arthur always made sure to take care of himself. He was health conscious and went to the doctor regularly. Despite taking all of the necessary precautions God had other plans. On the morning of Saturday February 15, 2025 Arthur suffered a massive heart attack. Even though he put up a vigilant fight he succumbed in the morning of Sunday February 16th. As we bid farewell to Arthur, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. His legacy of love, kindness, compassion and work ethic will continue to inspire us all. He was preceded in death by his son Jerome Brown, parents Lorenzo Brown & Johnnie Mae Hall Brown, three brothers Gasper Louis Brown, Elonzo Brown & James Wesley Brown Sr., three sisters Delois Brown Snell, Mary Brown Amerson & Juanita Brown. Arthur leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 53 years Mary Ellen Brown; one daughter, Tiffany Brown Bell (Corey); two grandsons Corey Bell Jr., Christian Lee Bell, one granddaughter Cienna Mae Bell. Two sisters Ruth Mae Brown & Virgie Smith (Leo) of Selma, Alabama & a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends who will forever cherish his memory. As we gather to honor Arthur’s memory, let us take comfort in the knowledge that he is at peace, surrounded by the love of his Heavenly Father. Arthur’s life may have come to an end, but his legacy will endure for generations to come, a testament to the power of love to transcend even the boundaries of mortality. Arthur’s life was a testament to the profound impact one individual can have on the world around them. His unwavering dedication to his family, and his zest for life are qualities that will continue to resonate in our hearts and minds.
